Wednesday

waiting for sunset : oil on canvas : c. janet driver

It was a beautiful warm summer evening with hardly a breath of air, even towards high tide...
while I was sitting near Batemans tower marvelling at the deep colour in the sky as the sun began to set
I saw this sailing boat slowly drop anchor as people began to stand up
looking for the best viewpoint
as the sunlight began to glow through low-lying mist
and a breeze ruffled the waters, leaving no hint of reflections
and the colours subtly began to change...

Thursday

hot, dry weeks of evening sunlight : c.janet driver

posted in celebration of the first garden waste collection after the ‘lockdown’ in March !    :)

...painted some years ago when I noticed the fragile beauty of this dandelion lit up by the evening sun shining low across our sunburnt back garden where nothing much survived except these beautiful seed heads... hot & dry like this year...

and then when I put this painting in my solo exhibition at Denbies Vineyard someone made my day by buying it as a special celebration of her birthday...  :)
